Ben Nevis Via the Mountain Track
Spend the day walking up the UK's highest Mountain Ben Nevis. Join one of our regular group walks to the summit of Ben Nevis at 1345m. Our public group walk sizes are small with 6 people maximum. It is a tough day of walking around 6 - 9 hrs on average covering 17km/10.5m distance and 1350 metres of ascent. We ascend the route known as the Mountain Track, built in 1883 to serve the weather observatory on the summit it is the most used route to the top. The hike starts off on easier ground to begin with but gets rockier and more exposed the higher we climb. Many accidents have happened over the years on the descent as it requires a good degree of concentration at the end of the day when the legs and mind are tired. It is a good idea to remember that the summit is only half way!
Here at Up and Doon Guided Walks we are environmentally conscious and committed to reducing the impact that we have on Ben Nevis. In order to minimize our impact on this important natural asset all our guides pick at least one bag of litter on each trip. You are more than welcome to join in and help protect Ben Nevis for future generations. If you would like to make a donation to help look after Ben Nevis you can do so via Friends of Nevis
